  • Avoid the Stress When Getting Dressed

Avoid the Stress When Getting Dressed

Stress When Getting Dressed can Affect Our Health, Social life and whole Day!

Would you agree?  Can you relate to this?  I have heard of at least two women who have been so stressed that they have turned down social occasions because they just knew they wouldn’t be able to decide what to wear. Imagine being able to enjoy getting dressed to go out and being able to get dressed quickly so that you can walk out the door feeling confident and showing your own style.

Before having children which was a long time ago I used to change quite a few times before going out anywhere.  I had that luxury and even if it was going to work in the morning being a true Libra Star Sign I would want everything perfect and could never make up my mind.  Once the children came along that soon changed.  Dress quick – that was it!

Now the children have grown up and I have so many other activities that I love to spend my time on again I don’t have the time or inclination to spend ages deciding what to wear.  As well as the time factor who wants all those piles of clothes to put away?  How cool to be able to look at the weather, think of the occasion you are dressing for sports, work, social, formal and then just get dressed knowing that whatever you put on will be just right for you.

You can avoid that last minute stress and piles of clothes to put away by:

    1. Knowing your most flattering colours and styles
    2. Only having in your wardrobe clothing and accessories that fit your own style recipe and colour palette
    3. Once you have your colour palette sorted you will know that your clothing is always going to be the right colour for your skintone, hair and eye colour AND look good with other accessories you own
    4. Make sure that all your clothing is a great fit for your body shape and the size that you are now.  Feeling comfortable in your clothing is important no matter what you are doing.
    5. If you have the space you can split your clothing into sections to cater for  different aspects to your life – Hobbies, Sports, Work, Meetings, Family Outings, Socialising
    6. If you are the sort of person who likes to be prepared well before an event ensure you have the outfit ready ahead of time to get dressed into.  Some people even plan their outfits for the following week no matter what their itinerary is.  I am writing about this in a subsequent post.
    7. Ensure you are getting dressed for you with regard to your own style, personality, colours and comfort however also  take  into account the occasion.
    8. Consideration for others when you dress is not about fitting in with everyone else.  It is about consciously dressing so that you can reflect who you are to the world and show respect for other people.
    9. Last but not least Number 9 – Get dressed and leave on time.  Know that you look great, you feel great and you don’t need to second guess that choice of clothing. If you are dressed as YOU, wearing YOUR colours and style, in comfortable clothing suitable for the occasion you are going to you can’t go wrong.

  • Value Your Business Image

    Value Your Business Image

How Do You Value Yourself? Your Business? Your Clients?

Are you wondering why your business may not be taken seriously? (like this guy in the photo) …No matter what business you are in – It is important that you show that you take your business seriously and dress accordingly.

There are so many different types of businesses  it really does help with that first impression if your clients can identify with what your business is when they see you.  For example if you were an accountant and turned up for an appointment wearing board shorts and a T shirt how seriously do you think the client would take your business?  If you sell surf boards and turned up for a business meeting you still may dress differently to the accountant but even then board shorts are for the weekend and “time off”.

To be taken seriously and to charge for your time and services  it is respectful to your clients to show up to a meeting dressing for that occasion.

As mentioned in a previous article Confidence with Style your own personal style can definitely be incorporated into your business and it  is a positive if you can incorporate this into your branding.  This can even be done consciously so that people identify your style with your business for all the right reasons.

Clean tidy attire and  attention to detail all counts for that all important great first impression.  Even if you love to dress casually and your business does not fit with wearing  suits or shirt/tie or formal business attire my advice would be to consider

    • branding with a colour scheme for your business that resonates with you and maybe having some garments embroidered with your logo.  It does not have to feel like a work “uniform” as you could have a variety of different garments that you wear to work
    • Make sure your business image is a change from what you would wear on your  days off and relaxing.  I am talking about really relaxing …  shorts, sweatshirts, singlets, thongs.
    • Think about the type of business you are in or even if you are a job candidate at a job interview – Think about the type of work you do in your business, or will be doing at the job you are applying for and dress accordingly.  Make sure how you dress is congruent with this.
    • Professional sports trainers and Personal Trainers will be wearing their sports attire as this IS their business.  This would be appropriate dress for them.
    • Think about the person you are meeting with and take this into account also.

Imagine this guy has just had a business meeting with a new client.  He cant understand why he hasnt been taken as seriously as he would like to be.  Can you imagine the different reaction  if he dressed in a tidy shirt with (or even without) a logo, a smart pair of trousers and some good shoes other than joggers.  He is good at what he does (lets say for example “a graphic artist”)- He has charged accordingly for his great work and cannot understand why he has difficulty in people seeing his value on first meeting.

Visual appearance does count.  It shows respect for your clients, yourself and your business.  You may be incredibly good at what you do but as I always say why make things hard for yourself?  Create that all important good first impression and then the rest is providing that top business value to your clients.  You really can create a great image and still keep your personal identity.  We do not need to sacrifice personal style for a great business image.

  • Dressing For Your Size

    Dressing For Your Size

5 Clever Tips To Look Fabulous No Matter What Your Size Is

Everyone has figure differences.  This is part of what makes us unique.  The trick is to highlight your favourite parts and diminish the least favourite.  When you are planning to shop for the new season, be sure to keep your body type in mind. By following simple tips when shopping and dressing, you can easily accentuate the positive and downplay the body parts that you may feel aren’t so perfect to skyrocket your confidence.

    1. Dress the best that you can

To successfully dress with style, you have to like yourself. Self acceptance is an integral part of living your best and next goal should be to dress in a way that flatters you, expresses you and makes you feel good, both physically and mentally. This is the actual way to get that change happen by nurturing yourself now.

    2. The aim is a proportioned Silhouette

The expected body shape for women is hourglass type shape (8 or X). It is considered an ideal shape for women and proportionately balanced through breasts and hips with a small waist in between and long legs. The good news is that you can create an optical illusion of  a proportioned silhouette that will make you instantly look stylish and slimmer. It’s easy, just create interest where you want to draw eyes  to and take it away from everywhere else.

    3. Use accessories and detailing to help, rather than hinder the cause

Accessories have incredible power to transform outfits from mundane to awesome in the blink of an eye. When dressing for your body size design of the garment can also make a difference such as princess seams, darts, ribbing, belting or patterns.

    4. Every outfit should have focus

Everyone fits into one of the typical body shapes in much the same way plant life can be categorized into trees, shrubs, cotyledons and seeds. Whether your body shape is round,  column or hourglass (different image consultants have varying sets of descriptions for body shapes)  get to know your body shape and more importantly, how you feel about it.

    5. Size is variable, shape is consistent

When it comes to style, one size never fits all. Thus, think its like a puzzle and you need to assemble  the right bits to complement each other. The correct clothing cut and style as well as outfit coordination help flatter the body figure no matter what size, making your physique well balanced and in proportion.

The bottom line is what makes you feel good is what is right for you. Still not sure what you need? Contact Moana at Beauty Glow to help you find the perfect clothing and accessories according to your body shape and size.
